Universal knife block mason jar

As part of the utensil holder I am developing, I was wondering if I could use the universal knife block trick.  On Instructables and other websites, people are using bamboo skewers to create knife blocks.  Since my kitchen style is based on mason jars, I used a half-gallon mason jar.  After filling it with 8-inch bamboo skewers, I tested it to see if it would function.  Here are the pictures.

I would call this test a success.  I plan on having two of these attached to my utensil rack.
